Update Metadata FAQ
What is metadata?
Metadata is data that contains information about a token, such as name, symbol, description, image, and social media links. This information is used when displaying tokens in wallets, DEXs, block explorers, etc.
What if I don't have update authority?
To update metadata, you must have update authority for that token. Only the token issuer has update authority, and tokens without authority cannot change metadata.
What happens if I revoke update authority?
If you revoke update authority, you can no longer change the token's metadata. This means the token information is permanently fixed and can be used to increase the project's credibility.
Are metadata updates reflected immediately?
Once the transaction is completed, it is immediately reflected on the blockchain. However, due to caching, it may take some time for updated information to display on some wallets or DEXs.
What image formats are supported?
PNG, JPG, and GIF image formats are supported. Square images are recommended for optimal display.
